Heather ran the first ever FCA beach volleyball camp in the South Bay of California this month. She was very nervous about it, but it ended up going really well! There were 21 kids there from across the South Bay and from the inner city. Some had played volleyball before, but others had never touched a volleyball in their lives. There were 8 coaches there helping out (including Isaac) who did an amazing job with the kids keeping up the energy levels and instructing them how to play this awesome sport. The theme of the camp was “Be Salty,” based off of the verse Matthew 5:13 (“You are the salt of the earth.”). Heather taught the kids about what it means to be salty—to walk this earth doing our best to model Jesus and how He lived His servant-leader lifestyle. Being salty is about standing out as a Christian and doing our best to be a good example to everyone. After a day of fun and of sharing the Gospel, 5 kids decided that they wanted to give their lives to Christ. We handed out Chick-fil-A, t-shirts, and Bibles to all who needed them. The day ended up being an awesome success! Heather is excited for more camps to come in the near future and to continue the volleyball ministry that God has called her to.
